Al Gore was standing there on the stage of Corso in Zurich to present his movie “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power".
I was completely smitten by him. It was the very first time I attended a live interview with an international public figure. (Thank you again @Lisa Christen).
We were in 2017, I was in my 5th year of Public Speaking addiction and have been watching thousands of speeches to learn from the best.
In this interview, you would grasp that to give a great speech, you need to have a message, something to say. But the message itself is not enough. What struck me was the logic of it all and it came down from a very specific element: The quality of the questions asked.
When you take a stage, you do it for 3 main reasons: inspire, educate or move to action. To smite the audience and let them follow your points, be your own interviewer. Challenge yourself with high-quality questions. Produce the best answers. Impact by enlightening your audience.
In thew preparation phase, the quality of your own questions will define the quality of your speech.
What are the questions you ask yourself when you prepare a presentation?
