THE JOURNEY OF RESILIENCE or HOW TO BOUNCE FORWARD?

April 30, 2019

More than education, more than experience, more than training, a person’s level of resilience will determine who succeeds and who fails.

That’s true in sports challenges, that’s true in the boardroom, that’s true in life.

In defining Resilience there is a part referred to as “Bouncing Back” – I want to spend a moment there.

Imagine you are in open water, you are drowning so deeply, all around you is pitch black. You have no hope of surviving. Eventually, your feet touch the ground, you press the floor and start kicking your feet to swim back to the surface.

Resilience is when you decide - willingly or not to regain the light and the oxygen of life. To regain the fields of possibilities.

But…If you stop kicking your feet, you will slip back. You will get exhausted, the waters will fill up your lungs . You will eventually drown back down and die.

From my experience, Resilience is so much more than just bouncing back.

Resilience is BOUNCING FORWARD and never going back to the place where you were drowning in the first place. It is a journey. One that I traveled over many years after a tragic car crash that left me 45% disabled.

My experience and what I have learned on the long and tedious Resilience journey only makes sense if I can help others and provide a Resilience travel map that should be made available to all.

What I have learned on my Resilience journey only makes sense if I can help others. Sharing a resilience travel map to enable the ones that need it the most to:

-  Leave duress quicker

-  to heal faster

-  to life stronger

On Friday, May 17th 2019, At the Risk-!n conference in Basel, I will be presenting: Human Resilience starts with a personal journey - You are who you choose to be.
