One Insight
Your next big opportunity probably won’t come from your current circle. Curiosity helps you find new doors. Generosity keeps them open. Start building connections before you need them.
One Story
When I first started my business, I joined an event where I realized that I was the only woman in the room. My inner critic showed up before I did. So, I gave myself a mission:
➡️ Meet five founders.
➡️ Learn one lesson from each.
I asked simple questions, listened deeply, and took notes, no pitching, no selling. Two days later, one of them became a client. Listening had done the selling for me. Being “the only one” stopped mattering once purpose took the lead.
One Tool: The 3-Question Compass
When meeting someone new, explore these three questions:
1️⃣ Challenges & Responsibilities: What must they deliver? What happens if they don’t?
2️⃣ Key Relationships: Who are the people that matter most to them — and why?
3️⃣ Reputation & Standards: What are they known for? What do others expect from them?
Their answers will show you how to help, not just how to talk.
Make it Stick
Create a simple note titled People > Problems > Paths. Under each person’s name, write down:
one problem you could help solve, and
one path to follow up later.
It turns conversations into connections and connections into opportunities.
Try it This Week
Join one event outside your usual circle. Set a clear goal:
✅ Have five genuine conversations.
✅ Make one helpful introduction within 48 hours.
Curiosity opens the door. Generosity keeps it open.
Et Voilà!
