Tell your Saboteur to shut up!
The 29th November 20219, the day before my TEDx Talk.
“What the heck are you doing?
no one cares about your story….
no one will listen,
Who do you think you are?
This internal voice left me unsettled when I took the train from my home in Switzerland to Torino- Italy where the event was taking place.
Which kept me awake all night long.
What I kept hearing in my mind over and over again
Despite the hundred hours of work, the positive practices on numerous and diverse audiences, the investment made with a professional speech coach...my saboteur's voice kept trying crippling my confidence.
Have you heard about impostor syndrome?
That internal voice screaming that you are not as competent as others perceive you to be.
Here is a tool you can use to tune down that negative voice.
(Book recommendation: Positive Intelligence – Shirzad Chamine) is the science and practice of developing mastery over your own mind so you can reach your full potential for both happiness and success.
This can truly help your confidence when you present.
The first step is identifying your top saboteur(s). There are 10 of them.
Most of us have a loud “Judge” shattering our confidence when we need it the most…
” you are not good enough” and weaken it by – for instance - dissociating yourself from it.
“I am not good enough” becomes “ Oh, My judge is back again, saying I’m going to fail! thinks I am not good enough”
1.Identify the voice incapacitating you,
2. Turn down its volume
3. Spike up your confidence when you present.
Shut down your Saboteur,
to become a Confident Speaker!
